Bhairav the Protector of Yogis
Bhairav is a fierce form of Siva, some say he is connected to the Southern face. He relates to the Mahavidya goddess named Bhairavi who gives Lagna shuddhi (purification of the Ascendant). This purifies and protects the body, self concept, personality, and other attributes associated with the Ascendant.
Bhairav or Bhairavi are used when there are malefic planets in the natal lagna or when natural malefics are transiting. They remove and protect one from these type of effects. Bhairav is worshipped first thing in the morning, and best just after Sunrise . This stotram has an energizing effect. When I first found it I was doing it in the morning and at night, and developed insomnia till my guru told me not to worship intense forms of Siva at night. The insomnia quickly left, though those nights were very enlightening.
This stotram is not for those not interested in the Hindu aspects of Yoga and Tantra. What is important is for a yogi to invoke or pray to their guardian deity/deities in the mornings. As a yogi’s system becomes more sensitive with sadhana, it is important to have a strong white light energy surrounding them, whether through visualization, pray, or invocation.
