Students are advised to acquire a copy of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra as this is the main text used for most classes. I recommend the Sharma addition as it is the one I primarily use, though any translation with the Sanskrit is ok. A book of all lecture materials is available at Freedom's Website.

Regular classes are free and many are uploaded for continued learning.

Beginner classes are taught by SJC teacher Freedom Cole and advanced SJC students. Classes are free. Students are expected to study the material taught and be able to utilize the information in the next class. Final homework for the beginner course will be working with one of the older students and to help teach one subject to the next beginner class.

The Classes are uploaded for people all over the world to download and systematically learn Vedic Astrology. They are available at www.learnvedicastrology.org

The Vedic Zodiac is composed of
twelve solar based constellations called Rashi,
and twenty-seven lunar based constellations called Nakshatras.
It is again divided into 108 padas of the navamsa.

Examine the Vedic Zodiac above.
In the center of your heart is the Lord of the Universe. From that is the 8 petaled lotus of the heart center relating to the 8 ways the soul can manifest. This then becomes the 12 petals of the heart chakra as used in the traditional system of Yoga. These twelve petals relate to the 12 signs of the zodiac. The Sun takes a year to circle the earth (go around the zodiac) and this is measured by 12 months relating to each of the twelve signs. The Moon takes one month to go around the Zodiac. These 27 days of the Moons sidereal motion are mapped into 27 nakshatras.
